About

Clarecastle Ballyea Heritage and Wildlife Team is a sub-committee of Clarecastle  Community Development. Our aim is to source, collect & publish cultural, historical and biodiversity material in order to raise awareness and to aid preservation of natural and built amenities in our community.

In partnership with the National Museum of Ireland, we maintain this open access website and encourage contributions from all.

Most of the information we feature has been contributed by local people who have an interest, be it past or present, in Clarecastle Ballyea.

How it all works

On the top, you will find 'Categories' which will bring you to information on suggested themes.  These will be expanded on in due course and as required.

Interested in becoming a contributor? We are always looking for contributions to the website and you don't even need to leave the comfort of your own armchair to help!.

See 'How to Contribute'.

Clarecastle & Ballyea Heritage & Wildlife Group retain editorial control over all submissions.

Photographs

Old photographs are great to look at and some of you may even remember how people and places once looked, others will hopefully enjoy seeing how things have changed. For those of you elsewhere in the world we try to include some up to date pictures so you can see what's changed and what you are missing!

If you see a building, some scenery or a person not named, it would be a great help if you could assist us in identifying the picture.

Comments can be added at the bottom of any page and please feel free to upload or send us copies of any photographs you would like included
