Cancelled Book 2 Town of Clare (Clarecastle) 1859-1863

Town of Clare or Clarecastle Revision /Cancelled Book 1859-1863

The second revision or cancelled book shows changes notified to the Valuation Office 1859-1863.

The ledgers commence with all occupiers and lessors notified in the 1858 revision/cancelled book and records changes notified to the Valuation office in November 1859, November 1860, September 1861, September 1862 and November 1863 s. Names  from the 1858 ledger were struck out (cancelled) and changes (revisions) are noted in a blue.

The cancelled/revision book shows that the Church of Ireland Parochial School located at Clarehill Town of Clare Main Street, lot 33.6 ceased operations 1858-1862. The building became a house with John Deane as the tenant. The house was exempt from paying rates which suggests that Mr Deane may have had a role associated with the Church of Ireland church next door.

Changes to occupiers and lessors at Clarehill, Town of Clare Quay Road, lot 1 Quay Road give testimony to the continued changes which occurred after the militia and ordnance survey moved out noted in the 1858 book. By 1862 there was a Dispensary and new occupiers in many houses in the Quay Road.
