Earth Day 2020
EARTH Day is celebrated globally on April 22 and 2020 marks its 50th anniversary.
With a theme of climate action, organisers and scientists across the world are calling for people to rally online to help protect the Earth.
The day is celebrated by an estimated one billion people around the world across more than 190 nations.
The theme in 2020 is climate action.
It was celebrated for the first time in 1970, making 2020 the year of its 50th anniversary.
Around the world, people are mobilised to partake in activities which work in favour of the environment. These include planting trees, recycling and avoiding pollution, among others.
In Clarecastle our Parish Priest, Fr. Pat Malone, marked Earth Day by scripting a fine piece of writing on the beauty that he observed on his daily strolls around parts of the Parish. His words are a wonderful appreciation of the many assets that nature has bestowed on us and will give us all a lift in these difficult days.
