Cholera in Clarecastle, 1832

2016 Fr. David O’ Brien Memorial. To mark the 150th anniversary of the erection of a memorial in Clare Hill cemetery in 1865 to Fr David O’Brien who had died in the Cholera outbreak of 1832, the memorial was cleaned up by the Parish and a plaque to the memory of the 81 villagers and 22 soldiers who had perished in the outbreak was placed in the cemetery after a blessing ceremony.
