Delighted to have Clarecastle Ballyea Heritage as part of the ICAN network. We will look forward to meeting up with you at various events. Your website is a great resource to showcase heritage of the area
Hi Mary great that you found the website – the whole purpose of the website is to record and present our heritage and to encourage people to Contribute photographs etc You are correct in mentioning Timmy McMahon and his forge BTW there was a piece of text that can be seen by Clicking on the Photo of the Month – this is the detail that is attached to the photo – we would be interested to know if we need to make it more obvious Many thanks
Christy & Eric
Had totally forgotten about that pump , loved to watch ( I think his name was Timmy McMahon ) at the forge shoeing the horses ! Used the pump on the pound all the time . That’s where we got our drinking water by the stainless buckets . Thanks for the memories 👍
Great write-up and perfect recount of my August 2019 visit. Of note, the man Mary O’Brien married, James Sanders, was also Irish and claimed to have been from Dublin. He and his family migrated to America in about 1840.
